What importer Bowler Wine has to say about this wine...
100% Gamay. 2020 is the first vintage of this wine. The Château Gaillard lieu-dit lies in the climat of Douby, which is in northeastern Morgon near the Fleurie border, and used to be folded into the entry-level Desvignes bottling called "La Voûte St. Vincent". Their Gaillard parcel is 1.03 hectares of 80-year-old, south-facing vines on sandy granite soils.Viticulture and vinification are consistent across all Desvignes wines. The vines are certified-organic and harvested by hand. The clusters go through a semi-carbonic maceration in open-top concrete vats, with a submerged-cap maceration of 10-14 days. A very small amount of sulfur (1-2 grams/hectoliter) is added after malo and sometimes at bottling. The wine is aged in concrete for about 7 months and bottled with a light, non-sterile filtration.
