Great Volnay in good vintages effortlessly combines elegance and power, and this expression of the Santenots terroir, farmed biodynamically by the Morey domaine since 2004, is no exception. Dark berries and grip with a silky finish.

Pierre Morey is a towering figure in Meursault. Along with his own prime vineyards he was also the winemaker at Domaine Leflaive in the 1980's and early '90's. He was one of the first growers in the region to fully embrace biodynamic farming, converting both Leflaive and his own domaine and reaching full certification by 1997. Now his daughter, Anne Morey, has taken the healm and is continuing on the path he started. She is a very intelligent, passionate and gracious person and her talents in the vineyard and cellar are exceptional.

Professional Reviews

Robert Parker

RP 93
"The 2020 Volnay 1er Cru Les Santenots mingles aromas of cherries and berries with notions of creamy spices and rose petals in a rich bouquet. Medium to full-bodied ample and concentrated it's rich and layered with lively acids and a long expansive finish. The 2020 vintage is another terrific success for Anne Morey who confidently directs this 11-hectare domaine as well as her family's Maison Morey-Blanc (also reviewed in this report). In white yields were generous delivering classically balanced wines that get my nod as the estate's finest since 2017. In red lower yields and rapid ripening had delivered more atypical results with some cuvées hitting 15% alcohol yet that was remarkably well-concealed?at least when tasting from barrel in the cellars."
