Trullo Flaminio’s Negroamaro is a textbook southern Italian red: hearty, rustic, and full of character. Grown in Puglia’s Salento region, where Negroamaro thrives in dry, sun-soaked conditions, this is made in a traditional style with no pretense—just generous, satisfying fruit and a touch of earthy structure.
The vines are older plantings, grown on clay-limestone soils, and yields are relatively low. The 2021 vintage was aged in stainless steel or neutral vessels to preserve freshness, with no noticeable oak influence, and bottled with a modest alcohol level and soft tannins.
In the glass, it’s full of dark cherry, dried herbs, and dusty earth, with a faint bitterness on the finish that’s typical of the variety (and gives it its name—Negroamaro roughly means “black and bitter”). It’s the kind of wine that doesn’t try too hard, and doesn’t have to—it’s built for weeknight meals, grilled meats, or anything tomato-based.
