Fenocchio’s Cannubi Barolo hails from one of the region’s most prized crus, known for its sandy soils and elegant expression of Nebbiolo. Located near Barolo village, the site yields wines of finesse and aromatic lift. Giacomo Fenocchio farms organically and adheres to long, traditional vinification.

Fermented with native yeasts and macerated for 40 days, the wine is aged in large Slavonian oak casks. Cannubi is the crown jewel of Fenocchio’s lineup, offering the most refined and ageworthy expression of his classic style.

Professional Reviews

Antonio Galloni

"The 2021 Barolo Cannubi is another stellar Barolo in this range from Claudio Fenocchio. Aromatic and lifted, the 2021 is classic Cannubi. Bright acids cut through a core of sweet red-toned fruit, mint, orange peel, cinnamon and new leather. This chiseled, nuanced Barolo is a winner." -Antonio Galloni

"While based in Monforte d'Alba, the Fenocchio family has owned a small 0.5ha slice in Cannubi Boschis for over 50 years and it has been bottled separately since 1980. Striking scents are redolent of rhubarb compote, cherry bark, toasted hazelnut and warm, dusty earth. This is full, dense and even a bit chewy as supple fruit fuses with seemingly pliant tannins which build with dry, sandy texture, providing a firm, well defined frame. Citrussy acidity is direct and penetrating, with a thrillingly crisp finish. I wouldn't touch it for at least a couple of years – Fenocchio's wines age exceptionally well."

"Rose, camphor, forest floor and spice aromas shape the fragrant nose on the 2021 Cannubi from Giacomo Fenocchio. Smooth, savory and enveloping, the full-bodied palate delivers ripe Morello cherry, strawberry compote, blood orange and star anise accompanied by taut, close-grained tannins that give the finish grip. Give this time to fully unwind. Drink 2031–2939." -Kerin O’Keefe
