A truly incredible site, which are responsible or producing truly incredible wines. 2,000 feet in elevation, above the Bedrock vineyard is magical vineyard, planted in the 1980's on bright-red, iron-rich soils, which imprint their signature, no matter the variety harvested. This vintage is a blend of two parcels, one north facing, that infuse the wine with an electric current of vivacity to what is already a heady, enveloping wine that I just could not get enough of.

"...is a standout. Readers who want to understand why Monte Rosso is such a special site will find that here. Soaring aromatics, strikingly pure fruit and refined tannins are all signatures of a special place and a special wine. Red-fleshed fruit, blood orange, mint, spice and lifted floral overtones grace this racy, flamboyant Zinfandel-based wine. Dollops of Alicante Bouschet, Grand Noir and Tempranillo round out the field blend. 94 points" -- Antonio Galloni, Vinous Media

What importer Polaner Selections has to say about this wine...

VINEYARD
Monte Rosso Vineyard is a beautiful old vine site on the Sonoma side of Mt Veeder. It is a big vineyard with 350 acres planted. Sourced from two blocks (32 & 25), both planted in the 1880's. n contrast to Block 32, which faces west, Block 25 is at higher elevation and faces north—something very rare at Monte Rosso. The blend of the two is a wine that has even more perfume and racy mountain fruit than previous iterations, showing all the pepper, blood orange, and raspberry typical of the site.
SOIL
Iron rich volcanic soils
VITICULTURE
Head trained, own-rooted vines
VINIFICATION
Native yeast fermentation in larger format oak
AGING
Aged for 12 months in 20% new French oak
