Nino Chitoshvili came to this by an unlikely route: a Tbilisi native and pianist by education, she fell for wine through philosophy and art, worked as a wine tour guide from 2010, and buried her first qvevri in the courtyard of her own house for the 2017 vintage. Everything here is grown on her own vines in the village of Vachnadziani, a micro-zone of Mukuzani in Kakheti, farmed with organic preparations only and with the natural flora of the site encouraged rather than sprayed away. In the cellar the approach is hands-off: wild yeast, no filtration, 7–9 months in qvevri. Total production across all her wines tops out around 10,000 bottles a year, so this is a small-scale thing that happens to reach a handful of countries — grab it when you see it.","brand":"Carnelia Wine (FOV) (CW)","offers":[{"title":"Default Title","offer_id":46541650624569,"sku":"NYC-W-CAR-`CNL241027-24`-091826-13","price":29.99,"currency_code":"USD","in_stock":true}],"thumbnail_url":"\/\/cdn.shopify.com\/s\/files\/1\/0125\/1518\/0601\/files\/Chitos-Gvino-Pink-Paradise-2024-Rose-Wine-Flatiron-Wines-Spirits-New-York.jpg?v=1789808443"},{"product_id":"chitos-gvino-saperavi-2024","title":"Chito's Gvino, Saperavi, 2024","description":"Saperavi the old Kakhetian way: fermented and raised in clay qvevri, wild yeast only, unfiltered — every wine here goes through natural vinification in qvevri for seven to nine months. Nino Chitoshvili founded this craft winery in 2017, a Tbilisi native and a pianist by training who came to wine through philosophy and art and buried her first qvevri in the courtyard of her own house. The fruit is all from her own vines in Vachnadziani, a village inside the Mukuzani micro-zone that she considers ideal ground for Saperavi. Farming is organic (only organic preparations in the vineyard, with the terroir's natural flora encouraged between the rows) and biodynamic methods carry into the cellar. Total production across every wine she makes tops out around 10,000 bottles a year, so a Georgian red of this seriousness reaching New York at all is worth noticing. The producer's own advice: serve it at 18°C, and don't be afraid to cellar it.","brand":"Carnelia Wine (FOV) (CW)","offers":[{"title":"Default Title","offer_id":46541650690105,"sku":"NYC-W-CAR-`CNL241028-24`-091826-15","price":31.99,"currency_code":"USD","in_stock":true}],"thumbnail_url":"\/\/cdn.shopify.com\/s\/files\/1\/0125\/1518\/0601\/files\/Chitos-Gvino-Saperavi-2024-Red-Wine-Flatiron-Wines-Spirits-New-York.jpg?v=1789808446"},{"product_id":"chitos-gvino-rkatsiteli-mtsvane-2023","title":"Chito's Gvino, Rkatsiteli Mtsvane, 2023","description":"A classical Kakhetian amber wine made the old way — skins, seeds and stems fermented together in clay qvevri buried underground, wild yeast only, seven months on the solids, no fining, no filtration. It's a co-planting of Rkatsiteli and Kakhuri Mtsvane from Sachaleebi, a single hectare on brown forest soil and calcareous clay in the village of Vachnadziani, a micro-zone of Mukuzani. Nino Chitoshvili came to this by an unlikely route: a Tbilisi pianist by training who fell for wine through philosophy and art, worked as a wine tour guide, and buried her first qvevri in her own courtyard for the 2017 vintage. She still does essentially all the vineyard work herself, farming organically and building the estate parcel by parcel, and total production across all her wines tops out around 10,000 bottles a year. For anyone who thinks orange wine means heavy and oxidative, this is the corrective — the house style here runs to high mineral drive, light texture and an elegant frame rather than bulk.","brand":"Carnelia Wine (FOV) (CW)","offers":[{"title":"Default Title","offer_id":46541650722873,"sku":"NYC-W-CAR-`CNL240126-23`-091826-16","price":29.99,"currency_code":"USD","in_stock":true}],"thumbnail_url":"\/\/cdn.shopify.com\/s\/files\/1\/0125\/1518\/0601\/files\/Chitos-Gvino-Rkatsiteli-Mtsvane-2023-Orange-Wine-Flatiron-Wines-Spirits-New-York.jpg?v=1789808448"}],"url":"https:\/\/nyc.flatiron-wines.com\/collections\/chitos-gvino.oembed","provider":"Flatiron Wines \u0026 Spirits NYC","version":"1.0","type":"link"}
