A Pinot Gris that packs a punch, this is made in the Ramato style, using red wine techniques, with 14 days of skin contact and daily pigeage, resulting in a copper hue that will deepen with age. It brims with herbs and black cherry, a delicious, complex, and interesting wine. Made as all Forlorn Hope wines, with no new oak, and avoiding additions save possible minimal SO2.

Left Forlorn Hope

Matthew Rorick is one of our "renegade" winemakers from the new California movement, with beautifully crafted, idiosyncratic wines. Working with varietals such as Verdelho, Ribolla Gialla, Alvarelhao, and Pinot Gris, his winemaking style is natural/minimalist to allow the fruit to become what it wants to become. Matthew describes his wines the best - "Rare creatures from appellations unknown and varieties uncommon, these wines are our brave advance party, our pride and joy – our Forlorn Hope."
