Amirault’s ‘Côte 50’ exemplifies the ‘highly drinkable’ and ‘carefree and juicy’ aspects of Cabernet Franc. Bright-fruited and floral, it’s a wine of levity that reminds us of a good Cru Beaujolais, though few of those are this affordable anymore.

What importer Bowler Wine has to say about this wine...

Cote 50 is the entry-level wine from Yannick Amirault coming from 4.75 hectares of vines on gravelly clay and sandy soils in Bourgueil. Grapes are hand harvested in successive passes, destemmed, undergo a 3-4 week maceration and a natural yeast fermentation in oak vats. Aged for 7-12 months in French oak vats and sandstone amphorae.

Our collection celebrates the region’s great diversity, with the mineral-driven whites of Muscadet and Sancerre, the beautiful Chenin Blancs and Cabernet Francs from villages like Vouvray and Chinon, and natural wines from everywhere in the region. Sometimes wonderfully fresh and gulpable, sometimes serious and age-worthy, the prices are always very reasonable.
