Greek wine is more exciting than ever, combining a rich array of native grapes with strikingly diverse microclimates and regional specialties. Better yet, though it's finally getting some of the recognition it deserves, Greece offers some of the best values to be found in the entire wine world. There is no better person to lead us through the best of this wonderful wine nation than Dionysi Grevenitis of DNS Wines, who brings us some of our most beloved Greek wines.

Dionysi Grevenitis, who resides here locally in Brooklyn, has worked in wine for the past 24 years as importer, distributor, retailer, and restaurateur. Born in Philadelphia, his first job in the wine world was putting together NY’s first all organic wine list as the General Manager and Beverage Director of the iconic Spring Street Natural Restaurant in 2000. He jokes the only thing he hasn’t done in all the intervening years is make the wine himself, although that might not be too far away. Raised both here and in Greece, Dionysi has one foot firmly planted in both cultures and has used his background to put together one, if not the most, provocative Greek portfolios in the U.S. DNS Wines is focused on small producers who work traditionally, through low-intervention means. Tiny production, heroic viticulture, and a quest for authenticity best describes the ethos of the merry band of vigneron collected under the DNS banner.

A question Dionysi often likes to pose to his guests during the various seminars and symposiums he leads is, “what is the point of drinking Greek wine, if it’s not to transport the drinker, not to convey Greece’s unique sense of place which differentiates itself from the rest of Europe and the wider wine world?” The DNS Wines portfolio has now reached over two dozen vigneron, encompassing virtually every notable wine-producing region in Greece, endeavoring to answer that question in the glass set before you.

We will taste through a lineup of stellar Greek wines while enjoying light bites. The cost of this seminar is $30 and a $20 credit at the store will be extended to each guest for a future purchase. Seating is limited and special pricing on the featured wines will be made available only to attendees. We hope you can join us at 6pm on Thursday, May 30 for this special event.

Focus On: Burgundy

Burgundy has long been the world's most famous wine region. But, underneath all the prestige, this region can be hard to get to know.

While Burgundy offers many great trophies from top producers in well-known villages like Vosne Romanee and Puligny Montrachet, it also offers excellent values to anyone willing to explore beyond the famous names. Our collection– one of the largest in the U.S. – has plenty of both!

From the very basics of Burgundy's regions and wines to the specific terroirs of individual single vineyards--
everything you need to know about Bourgogne is just a click away!
