{"title":"Jerome Blin","description":"\u003cp\u003eBased in the small village of Vincelles, located between Epernay and Chateau Thierry in the Vallée de la Marne, Jérôme farms just 2.5 hectares of family vines and produces minuscule quantities of truly gorgeous wines.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eThe Blin family traces its roots in the village all the way back to 1671, but their vinous story really begins after World War II, when Jérôme’s grandfather Henri took his 5 hectares of family vines and teamed up with about 30 other small local growers to form the co-op Champagne H. Blin.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eGrowing up in the vines, Jérôme was always drawn to the life of a vigneron and he spent a few years working at wineries in the south of France and Australia, before taking up a full time post at the family-run co-op\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eBy the late 90's, Jérôme was feeling unsettled and in need of a new challenge. He liberated 2.5 hectares of family vineyards from their co-op contracts and started tending the vines himself.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eInspired by the new-wave of Champagne growers fighting against the accepted wisdom of post-war industrial viticulture, Jérôme eliminated chemical treatments in the vines. By 2004 he was working fully organic, and since 2018, he’s been rigorously following biodynamic practices. His holdings are 70% Pinot Meunier, with the balance equally split between Pinot Noir and Chardonnay all sitting on silty limestone soils.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eJérôme is a grower working on a truly human scale–tending each parcel with maximum care, supervision and sensitivity. And you can feel the depth of intention in the wines which are crackling with energy and life. They're bursting with mineral rich aromatics, ripe, juicy red and white fruits, all supported by plenty of crunchy acidity and chalky grip.
