"The 2019 Ried Holzspur St. Laurent is from old vines yielding no more than 25 hectoliters per hectare in that superb vintage. Fermented with 30% whole clusters over 18 days and aged in predominantly French (50% new) barriques for 22 months, the wine opens with a deep, intense and concentrated, fleshy and coolish nose that shows ripe cherry and blackberry aromas as well as smoked ham and even saline notes. Lush and round on the generous palate, this is a full-bodied, smooth and elegant red wine with fine tannins intermingled with saline acidity that causes stimulating mineral grip and tension. The finish is crisp and intense, with sustainable blackberry fruit and still exhibiting the fine and ripe tannin structure. A great, age-worthy St. Laurent bottled with 13% stated alcohol. Natural cork."
