"From a monopole, Leitz's Grosses Gewächs (abbreviated as GG on the front label) 2019 Rüdesheim Rosengarten GG offers an intensely aromatic, slightly flinty and still a bit reductive bouquet of a clear, bright and intense fruit aromas intertwined with notes of finely weathered rocks and stones. On the palate, the wine is full-bodied, round, lush and elegant and reveals a remarkably creamy sur lie texture that gives roundness and a touch of sweetness that is rather unusual for a Leitz Riesling. The finish is crystalline and saline and very promising. 13% stated alcohol. Natural cork. Tasted in June 2022." 92pts -- Stephen Reinhardt, The Wine Advocate

German Wines

Is there a better grape than Riesling? Is there a better value? Its fruit purity, its perfume, and its mineral nuance are all unparalleled. And for centuries, the top German Rieslings were priced accordingly: at least as expensive as the top red wines of Bordeaux and Burgundy. But nowadays you could spend a lifetime exploring Germany’s great Riesling-producing regions while staying well within your budget. You might take an occasional break to try Germany’s other white grapes or perhaps a glass of Spätburgunder (the local name for Pinot Noir). It’s time to get started!
