Domaine Plaisance Penavayre, Le Rouge Fronton, 2019
is backordered and will ship as soon as it is back in stock.
Black currant and violet aromas on the nose with wild berry fruit on a textured palate that ends fresh and peppery. It's a juicy, peppery and refreshing red, a character-filled wine that drinks like where it’s from — just north of Toulouse, from poor soils of stony gravel on top of a hard limestone bedrock. It’s honest, with all the brambly fruit you’d expect from a wine from Southwest France and refreshing acidity.
France's Southwest just might be the country's final frontier for interesting, delicious and affordable wines. The main variety used here, Négrette, is unique to the region and unknown outside of it.
