Pierre Boillot inherited the Domaine from his father Lucien, and set about revitalizing the soils and vines in all of their vineyards. In the cellar, he focuses on making transparent, terroir-driven wines of purity and finesse... but doesn't mind some rich lushness on occasion! This Volnay Premier Cru comes from vines planted in 1948, the fruit is destemmed, cold-soaked for 3-5 days, and fermented naturally for 18-21 days with twice-daily punch downs. Aged 16-18 months in maximum 30% new French oak, unfined and unfiltered. Ripe black currant and dark berry fruit supported by a concentrated stony chalkiness.
