Rhys Vineyards, Pinot Noir Bearwallow Vineyard, 2017 (1.5L)
is backordered and will ship as soon as it is back in stock.
Bearwallow Vineyard in Anderson Valley is one of Rhys’s most distinctive sites—steep, rocky, and blanketed in coastal fog, it yields Pinot Noir with lifted aromatics, fine structure, and a deep mineral core. In 2017, the vineyard offered a slightly more expressive, early-drinking personality, but with all the precision and ageability Rhys is known for.
This magnum opens with red cherry, raspberry, rose petal, and forest spice, but what sets it apart is its texture: sleek and layered, with silky tannins and a cool, stony edge that anchors the finish. It’s more approachable than the 2016 at this stage, but still has the bones to age beautifully—especially in 1.5L, where the wine will evolve gracefully over the next decade or more.
A perfect bottle for collectors, special occasions, or Burgundy lovers curious to see just how elegant and transparent California Pinot can be when grown and made with this level of care.
