Rhys Vineyards, Pinot Noir "Family Farm Vineyard", 2007
is backordered and will ship as soon as it is back in stock.
The 2007 “Family Farm” is a time capsule—one of the earliest releases from Rhys Vineyards, showing just how well their low-intervention, terroir-driven approach ages. Planted in the late ‘90s on gravelly loam near San Mateo, Family Farm is one of Rhys’s most approachable sites when young, but with surprising staying power, especially in a cool vintage like 2007.
After more than 15 years, the wine is fully mature and beautifully expressive: dried cherry, cranberry, rose petals, mushroom, and earthy spice, with silky tannins and a long, savory finish. The fruit is now secondary to the tertiary layers—leather, tea leaf, and forest floor—that make mature Pinot such a pleasure to drink.
Made with whole-cluster fermentation, native yeasts, and minimal new oak, this bottling showcases the early Rhys philosophy: Burgundian sensibility meets California transparency. It’s delicate but not fragile, with a calm, steady presence in the glass.
Best served with lighter meats, game birds, or simply appreciated on its own for what it is—a thoughtful, handcrafted Pinot that’s aged with grace.
