Silver Thread Vineyard, Silver Thread Good Earth White, 2021
is backordered and will ship as soon as it is back in stock.
Silver Thread vineyard is one of the oldest grape-growing sites on Seneca Lake. Their Good Earth White is just the type of quirky, earth saving wine, we are on the lookout for. The blend is 70% from hybrids NY-81 and NY-45 along with a little Riesling and a touch of Chardonnay. The two hybrid varieties require fewer vineyard inputs and are more sustainable in the cold, wet, upstate New York climate. Farming here is regenerative and follow a method they call "biointensive viticulture". The winery generates 100% of its energy needs from a 28kw solar array located on-site.
The resulting wine is refreshing, slightly aromatic with mango, creamy peach and spice. The body is light and crisp with just a touch of honey to round out the sharp acidity on the finish.
