This is one of the pathbreaking natural wines of Burgundy that proves that Natural wine can make a true, terroir expressive Pinot Noir. This cuvée comes from two parcels, ‘l’Etaing’ and ‘La platerre’ located in the bottom of Comblanchien. The 50-year-old-vines yield concentrated grapes that make highly fragrant wine.

Aged in a mix of concrete and old oak barrels, it's a pure, natural wine with gulpability and true Burgundian terroir.

VINEYARD
Made from two vineyards "l'Etaing" and "La Platerre" on the bottom of the village of Comblanchien. These sites tend to produce concentrated fruit that suprasses the quailty of may Bourgogne level wines. In 2018, because of losses to hail, they also purchased some grapes from an organic grower in Fixin to supplement the blend.
VITICULTURE
Organically farmed with minimal plowing so as to not disturb the soils. Strict debudding to limit yields and encourage good concentration. All grapes are picked and sorted by hand at harvest.
VINIFICATION
Harvested at optimum ripeness (always determined by consistent tasting in the vineyards), Whole cluster semi-carbonic maceration in stainless steel tank. No sulfur added in vinification
AGING
Aged 12 months in neutral oak barrels. One gram of sulfur added before bottling.

Focus On: Burgundy

Burgundy has long been the world's most famous wine region. But, underneath all the prestige, this region can be hard to get to know.

While Burgundy offers many great trophies from top producers in well-known villages like Vosne Romanee and Puligny Montrachet, it also offers excellent values to anyone willing to explore beyond the famous names. Our collection– one of the largest in the U.S. – has plenty of both!

From the very basics of Burgundy's regions and wines to the specific terroirs of individual single vineyards--
everything you need to know about Bourgogne is just a click away!
