Genevrieres sits mid-slope in Meursault with Perrieres alongside it to the south and Charmes below, on Bathonian limestone shot through with marl, the middle ground of the great trio, fuller than Perrieres and tighter and more mineral than Charmes. Ballot's parcel lies in the Dessus section, where the old vines crop at barely 35 to 40 hectoliters per hectare. Where 2020 was ripe and seamless, 2024 came out of a wet, mildew-fought season with a small crop and a taut, high-toned profile: less flesh, more nerve. Cellar it.
