{"product_id":"bartolo-mascarello-barolo-2012","title":"Bartolo Mascarello, Barolo, 2012","description":"Classic Barolo from a classically proportioned year, made by the estate that has refused to modernize for more than a century. Bartolo Mascarello has stood for strict Barolo traditionalism since the winery officially began in 1918. When neighbors started bottling single crus in the 1960s and '70s, Bartolo said no. His argument was that his four vineyards in Barolo and La Morra made a better wine together than apart. The house goes further than even most purists and ferments those parcels together in one long fermentation. Those parcels are Rocche dell'Annunziata in La Morra, and Cannubi, San Lorenzo and Rue in the commune of Barolo. The vines are on steep slopes, so they're worked entirely by hand, with no chemical fertilizers or pesticides. The wine then ages in large neutral Slavonian botti. This is the house behind the hand-written \"No Barrique, No Berlusconi\" labels, after all, and Maria Teresa, who took over when her father died in 2005, insists nothing has changed since his time. 2012 was a solid vintage that gave a balanced Barolo, which makes this a lovely way to meet one of Piedmont's benchmark wines.","brand":"Private","offers":[{"title":"Default Title","offer_id":50524969140281,"sku":"NYC-[CNSN]-TTSUMMER0826-092226-102-10","price":239.0,"currency_code":"USD","in_stock":false}],"thumbnail_url":"\/\/cdn.shopify.com\/s\/files\/1\/0125\/1518\/0601\/files\/Bartolo-Mascarello-Barolo-2012-Red-Wine-Flatiron-Wines-Spirits-New-York_93a40fc3.jpg?v=1790154415","url":"https:\/\/nyc.flatiron-wines.com\/products\/bartolo-mascarello-barolo-2012","provider":"Flatiron Wines \u0026 Spirits NYC","version":"1.0","type":"link"}
