Julian Huber, who took over after his father Bernhard's death in 2014, has continued the late patriarch's Burgundian playbook: hand-harvested old vines, careful fermentation, long élevage in French oak. The result is a Grosses Gewächs (the German Grand Cru equivalent) with real bones — darker-fruited and more brooding than Alte Burg, with the kind of structure that asks for cellar time. Bernhard was nicknamed the Godfather of German Pinot, a close friend of Jacques Seysses at Dujac.
