That gravelly, silty, well-draining soil — barely 70cm deep, on the gentle lower slope at 280 metres just east of Fixin — gives a rounder, more open-knit expression than Fixin's usual firmness, and Amelie Berthaut calls it the easiest of her Fixin vineyards to work. She farms most of the 1.73-hectare lieu-dit, with vines planted between 1946 and 2003 averaging around 40 years. The winemaking stays out of the way: a touch of whole cluster, ambient yeasts, fermentation in concrete, then 12 to 15 months in barrel with a measured proportion new.
