Alcohol rarely goes above 13%, fermentations are wild, he intervenes as little as possible, and the wines are made in very large casks of at least 500 liters. Mody is also a grape-grower, and his projects are based on Diamond Mountain in Calistoga. For Beta, though, he picks vineyards in Napa and Sonoma that he thinks have a voice of their own. If you've been wondering what a restrained, site-driven California Cabernet looks like, Lupina is a good bottle to find out with.
