Rioja may be best known for its earthy, full-bodied wines based on Tempranillo, but its white wines are some of the most exciting wines in all of Spain. This version from the traditional Muga bodega is primarily Viura (known as Macabeo elsewhere in Spain and in France), with a hint of both Garnacha Blanca and Malvasia. Lush, floral and full of orchard fruit notes, this is supple and luxurious on the palate but finishes with a wonderful mineral note, thanks in part to the clay and limestone soils on which it's grown, in the Rioja Alta subregion.
