Garnacha has a thousand different personalities, and we particularly love this iteration from the Gredos — a whiff of candied cherry, some dried mountain herbs and barely-there tannins that leave you craving another sip. Silky and fresh.

Robert Parker

"The red 2021 Valautn Garnacha is a village wine from San Martn de Valdeiglesias, as they used grapes from many small plots of old vines. It's not a shy or light wine at 15.1% alcohol, and it has good freshness and acidity. The full clusters fermented with indigenous yeasts and had three months of maceration, followed by malolactic in old foudres and 10 months of levage in a 10,500-liter French oak foudre. The wine is super aromatic, floral, elegant and perfumed, and the medium-bodied palate has a lot of grip, with the chalkiness and dry sensation from the granite soils and a very tasty, almost salty finish. The oak is imperceptible, the extraction is moderate and the wine is elegant but with grip."

What importer Bowler Wine has to say about this wine...

The village Garnacha comes from multiple micro-vineyards planted around the village of Valdeiglesias on top of shallow soils of decomposed granite (650-750 meters). The wine is made from a very long and soft maceration, around 90 days, with whole-clusters and aged one year in half in concrete and half in used French barrels.
