This is organic Brunello from one of the largest estates in the appellation, named for a medieval village in Montalcino's Val d'Orcia. That size is what makes serious Brunello an accessible entry point here rather than a trophy bottle. It's 100% Sangiovese Grosso, fermented slowly and gently in stainless steel, then aged for two years in large 60-hectolitre Slavonian and French oak casks, a further year in cement and at least six months in bottle. That's patient, traditional winemaking in the best sense. Walter Ghezzi bought Camigliano in 1957, and the family has farmed organically since 2014, with mechanical cultivation between the rows in place of herbicides.
