That location does real work: the sand-and-clay soils there, rich in iron, give wines the plush, rounded texture Pomerol built its reputation on. Corbin has been a Grand Cru Classe since the original 1955 classification, and it has been run since 1999 by Anabelle Cruse, the fourth generation of her family on the property. The blend is Merlot-dominant with Cabernet Franc alongside, and 2019 was a generous Right Bank vintage with ripe fruit and ripe tannins and no hard edges anywhere. Expect black cherry, plum, cocoa and a little iron-tinged earth.
