Owned at the time by Eric Albada Jelgersma (who also held Giscours), the estate had a long stretch of careful, classical winemaking, and 2009 caught the property at top form in one of the great modern Bordeaux vintages. Where 2010 is the tight, structured twin, 2009 is the warm one: a hot, sunny summer, no September rain, full phenolic ripeness, and wines built on plush, glycerin-rich texture. Seventeen years on it is generous and open for business, with cassis and violet over graphite, cedar pencil and that pebbly Margaux finesse, and plenty of road still ahead. Decant if drinking now; the texture continues to evolve in glass.

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0125/1518/0601/files/Chateau-du-Tertre-Margaux-2009-Red-Wine-Flatiron-Wines-Spirits-New-York.jpg?v=1786113543
