Chateau Fuisse

One of the greatest things about white Burgundy is the myriad expressions we encounter, from just one grape—the noble Chardonnay. The terroir of different villages and different vineyards makes tasting these wines a study in comparison and contrast.

For Pouilly-Fuissé with great precision, length and richness there is Chateau Fuissé, a 5th generation domaine in the Mâcon and arguably the finest producer in that village.

Professional Reviews

BH 89-92
"Once again the nose is very generously wooded and to the point where the oak does dominate the underlying ripe fruit. Buttery nuances mark the middle weight flavors that do offer good vibrancy and an attractive touch of minerality on the delicious, complex and agreeably dry finale. This is well-made if particular in style and well-made or not, I can't really say that it appeals to me."

D 92
"Discreet lime and apple nose - intense, with the new oak quite prominent. Tight attack, with a lot of extract and pungency and a stony finish. It is rather closed and a bit gawky now, but it's well structured and has ageing potential."

Wine Spectator

WS 91
"A taut, linear version, with apple, lemon, spice and stone notes wound around the backbone of acidity, this is a bit austere in flavor yet remains long and focused. Drink now through 2024."

Wine Enthusiast

"The seven-acre walled vineyard surrounds the winery and château. Old vines and a sheltered situation give this wine its richness. Enhanced by the wood aging, this wine is ripe with apricots and spiced pears cut with a mineral texture. It is still young and will be much better from 2019."
