{"product_id":"chateau-latour-martillac-pessac-leognan-grand-cru-blanc-2023","title":"Chateau Latour Martillac, Pessac-Leognan Blanc, 2023","description":"Classified white Bordeaux is one of the great under-the-radar categories for anyone who loves whites that age, and Latour-Martillac's 2023 is a textbook example: 60% Sauvignon Blanc for snap, 40% Sémillon for weight, and a drinking window the estate puts at 2026 to 2032. The Kressmann family has run this Pessac-Léognan property for generations, and its wines were recognised in the 1953 Graves classification. (Alfred Kressmann bought it in 1930 and renamed it Latour-Martillac so no one would mix it up with the Médoc's Château Latour.) 2023 was a year of two halves. A hot, humid spring meant a constant fight against mildew, then a cool spell from late July into early August slowed the vines down so the grapes ripened gradually and fully. Sauvignon Blanc picking started on August 28, and the late-summer heat was such that a few Merlot plots had to come in on September 8, before the white harvest was even finished. A nice bit of history: whites were what drew Edouard Kressmann to the estate in the first place, and they anchored his 'Graves Monopole Dry', a favourite of the singer Adelina Patti on her American tour. The estate's own advice is to be patient: give it a couple of years, serve it no colder than 50°F while it's young, and at 53–57°F once it has four or five years in bottle.","brand":"Barriere Freres [MHW] [BRRFR]","offers":[{"title":"Default Title","offer_id":50930256379961,"sku":"NYC-W-BRRFR-`BAF107444-23`-102326-9","price":53.99,"currency_code":"USD","in_stock":true}],"thumbnail_url":"\/\/cdn.shopify.com\/s\/files\/1\/0125\/1518\/0601\/files\/IMG-5330.jpg?v=1793043149","url":"https:\/\/nyc.flatiron-wines.com\/products\/chateau-latour-martillac-pessac-leognan-grand-cru-blanc-2023","provider":"Flatiron Wines \u0026 Spirits NYC","version":"1.0","type":"link"}
