There are a few pockets of value to be found in Pomerol; Château Taillefer may be the single best example.Taillefer is a historic estate that dates back to the 18th century. The wines are very traditional in style, showing the beautiful, seamless texture Pomerol is known for, without ever being overripe or overwrought. Unlike many young Bordeaux wines, however, these can be enjoyed fairly young, however, owing to the lower percentage of new oak (33%) and minimal use of sulfur. It's almost weird how good the wine is for the price. But really it should come as no surprise. The estate is owned by the illustrious Mouiex family, the name behind such benchmarks as Pétrus and Trotanoy.
