One of the greatest things about white Burgundy is the myriad expressions we encounter, from just one grape—the noble Chardonnay. The terroir of different villages and different vineyards makes tasting these wines a study in comparison and contrast.

From the northern reaches of Chablis down to the Mâcon, there are excellent winemakers whose wines we seek out each year. For excellent village, 1er Cru and Grand Cru Chablis, perfectly balanced and exquisitely mineral, we reach for Domaine Christian Moreau.

Burghound

"40+ year old vines mostly situated in Vaillons proper with additional parcels in Châtains and Epinottes Here too there is a whiff of lychee on the ripe aromas of white and yellow peach, white flower and zest, all of which is trimmed in discreet wood influence. The notably finer medium weight flavors possess very fine mid-palate concentration while delivering solid length on the bitter lemon, clean, dry and nicely sleek finish."

"The 2022 Chablis Vaillon 1er Cru has a taut nose with light sea spray scents infusing the green apple aromas. This is quite austere, considering the season. The palate is well-balanced with yellow plum and tangerine on the entry. It’s slightly low in acidity, but I admire its lilting quality, and it feels persistent on the finish. Very fine." -Vinous

Focus On: Burgundy

Burgundy has long been the world's most famous wine region. But, underneath all the prestige, this region can be hard to get to know.

While Burgundy offers many great trophies from top producers in well-known villages like Vosne Romanee and Puligny Montrachet, it also offers excellent values to anyone willing to explore beyond the famous names. Our collection– one of the largest in the U.S. – has plenty of both!

From the very basics of Burgundy's regions and wines to the specific terroirs of individual single vineyards--
everything you need to know about Bourgogne is just a click away!
