In the stunning Santa Cruz Mountains, Rhys is one of California's most iconic wineries. Winemaker Jeff Brinkman will come to the mezzanine on Wednesday, June 25 to share his story and the story of Rhys while we taste their lineup of benchmark wines.

Jeff Brinkman’s fascination with wine began during college, where he studied biochemistry but started working in a wine shop to help pay for school. His first winery job was at R.H. Phillips, where he began as a cellar worker and eventually worked his way up to research winemaker. He went on to be winemaker at Atlas Peak Vineyards (Once a joint project between the Antinori wine family and Allied-Domecq, and now known as Antica) and Husch Vineyards and Winery in Anderson Valley before taking the job at Rhys Vineyards in 2006. He remains fascinated by the endless number of variables that make each vintage different from the next and inspired by the fact that every day at a winery—especially one like Rhys, with such a unique mission—is different from the last..

We will taste Rhys's sparkling wine, Chardonnay and Pinot (including single-vineyard comparisons) and even their delicious forays into Italian varieties. The cost of this seminar is $40 and a $20 credit at the store will be extended to each guest for a future purchase. Seating is limited and special pricing on the featured wines will be made available only to attendees. We hope you can join us on the mezzanine at 6pm on Wednesday, June 25 for this special evening.

Gautheron is, as Burghound says, an “old school domaine” with a “decidedly traditional style.” But traditional doesn’t mean staid: Gautheron is an exciting producer to get to know. Partly, that’s down to Cyril, (son of Alain) bringing new energy and focus to the old-school approach: yields are low, farming is more focussed than ever, and the wines have both intense expressiveness and clear identity.

Beat the Heat with Antxiola's Delightful Txakolina Duo

What to do when the heat index has skyrocketed and your heart wants wine, but your face just wants a margarita served in a vessel the size of a kiddie pool? We recommend resolving this dilemma with Txakolina.

This treat from Spain's Basque Country has a margarita's lime zest notes and touch of salt, but with the added complex minerality and long, fresh finish of the world's best peak-of-summer wines.

Nervi-Conterno's Gorgeous 2024 Rosato is the Wine that Does it All

What happens when Barolo’s most exacting mind takes on rosé? That was the question we all asked when Roberto Conterno, the mastermind behind the legendary Barolo Riserva Monfortino, took charge of Nervi-Conterno’s rosato.

A few years in, we have our answer: he makes magic.
