Mélanie came to wine after a career teaching PE, apprenticing with Patrick Baudouin, Emmanuel Ogereau and Mark Angeli before starting the estate; Romain spent a decade working in Anjou cellars. Les Belouines is planted on spilite and rhyolite, the silica-rich volcanic rock that defines Anjou Noir and gives these wines their length and salinity. Everything is hand-picked, pressed in a manual vertical press, aged a year on lees in barrel, and bottled with no fining, filtration or additives.
