Sercial is the driest and highest-acid of Madeira's noble grapes, and this one comes from Jardim da Serra, high in the hills behind Funchal; whatever residual sugar the wine carries is swallowed whole by 9.6 grams of acidity, so it reads taut and citrusy rather than rich, even at 21% alcohol.
