It comes from Delord, a family house in Lannepax, a village in the Bas-Armagnac part of Gascony, where four generations have grown the grapes, distilled them and aged the spirit themselves. With a bottle this old, that unbroken family line is the real draw. The house keeps its oldest vintage Armagnacs in glass carboys in a room the family calls the \"Paradise.\" The great-grandsons, Jérôme and Sylvain, run things now. They still pick, press and ferment Ugni Blanc, Colombard, Folle Blanche and Baco separately, a few metres from the still, aiming for a low-alcohol, aromatic and slightly tart base wine that they consider ideal for distilling.
