It is the same slope and the same shallow brown limestone as the celebrated communes up the road; it simply never got a name of its own, which is the entire reason wine this good is still within reach. Didier Fornerol learned his craft over sixteen years running the vineyards and cellar at Domaine de l'Arlot, and he ferments with whole clusters — an aromatic lift that also makes the wine softer and more open early — extracting gently by hand before around sixteen months in mostly used barrels. 2023 was a warm, sunny, generous-crop vintage in Burgundy that gave ripe, juicy, immediately likeable reds, and this parcel's extra concentration gives the year some backbone.
