Les Fremières is a sliver of about 0.7 hectares in the northwest of the commune, on clay-limestone over a limestone subsoil. It's farmed by lutte raisonnée, which means treating the vines only when they actually need it rather than spraying on a fixed schedule. The domaine is tiny even by Burgundy's standards, and it has stayed in the family. Victor Moretti founded it in the 1930s and handed it to his daughter Geneviève Royer-Moretti in 1984, and she passed it on to her son-in-law Michel Di Gioia, who runs it today. This is the 2006, so those old vines have had nearly two decades in bottle to show what they can do.
