The domaine began in 2004 when Marc Houtin, fresh off internships around France (Château d'Yquem among them), settled in Anjou with the idea of making light reds from short macerations, farmed organically and left largely alone in the cellar. He's since been joined by Julien Bresteau and Gérald Peau, and the three of them now farm 15 hectares across five communes of the Coteaux de l'Aubance, turning out sixteen organic cuvées. Virtually every vine sits on black schist, which is what gives these reds their spine and a peppery snap you don't expect from wines this featherweight.
