The vines average 50 years old and are goblet-pruned in the old Beaujolais way. For the 2023, the grapes were picked by hand, fully destemmed and fermented for three weeks with wild yeasts, then aged ten months, half in oak barrels and half in steel tanks. Domaine de Vernus is a young estate, created in 2019. Owner Frédéric Jametton is a Dijon native who spent thirty years in insurance brokerage before deciding to invest in wine, and he runs the place with winemaker Guillaume Rouget. They put the vineyards together one plot at a time from 14 different growers, which tells you how much the sites mattered to them. Only 6,650 bottles were made.
