One of the original domaines to begin bottling themselves (back in the 1940s), Roumier quickly moved into the very top tier of Burgundy producers. Specialists in Chambolle Musigny, they produced some of the most achingly pure and elegant wines from anywhere, and consequently the demand for their small production is enormous. Roumier's wines are strictly allocated, and we only occasionally acquire sufficient quantities to post online, so be sure to grab bottles when you see them!

Professional Reviews

BH 90
"This is exuberantly fresh with its pretty array that is composed by notes of both red and dark pinot fruit, floral and tea aromas. There is a lovely sense of underlying tension to the mineral-inflected, refined and lacy medium weight flavors that deliver excellent length on the balanced and beautifully persistent if slightly warm finale. This concentrated effort is very Chambolle in basic character."

"Good full red. Spicy red fruits, smoky minerality and soil tones on the nose. At once velvety-smooth and sappy, with its red berry flavors given a light touch by smoky minerality. Not at all overly sweet; in fact, this very impressive village wine finishes classically dry and long, with a firm spine of well-buffered tannins. Accessible already but will be even better in three years." -Vinous

"The 2015 Chambolle Musigny Village contains around 5% whole bunch fruit. It has an understated bouquet at first, needing just a few swirls of the glass to reveal red cherry and cranberry nose with purity rather than power. The palate is very well balanced with crunchy red fruit, wonderful acidity, fresh and with a touch on confit fruit on the engaging finish. What a delicious village cru this will grow up to be." -Robert Parker

"Charming nose of pure red fruits and mint. Lean and precise, pretty but not superficial, with a sleek texture and considerable concentration. Shows charm and elegance with a long, lifted finish."

Focus On: Burgundy

Burgundy has long been the world's most famous wine region. But, underneath all the prestige, this region can be hard to get to know.

While Burgundy offers many great trophies from top producers in well-known villages like Vosne Romanee and Puligny Montrachet, it also offers excellent values to anyone willing to explore beyond the famous names. Our collection– one of the largest in the U.S. – has plenty of both!

From the very basics of Burgundy's regions and wines to the specific terroirs of individual single vineyards--
everything you need to know about Bourgogne is just a click away!
