Over the past couple of decades Domaine Leflaive has re-established itself as probably the most important address for winemaking in the world famous village of Puligny-Montrachet. They accomplished this through a singular attention to growing and making the very best Chardonnay possible.

Indeed, Domaine Leflaive grows only Chardonnay and nothing else. The entire estate has been converted to biodynamic farming. The winemaking is extremely precise, gentle, and driven by a passion to showcase how this extremely popular grape can perfectly capture the subtle nuances of terroir.

Professional Reviews

Antonio Galloni

"The 2018 Bâtard-Montrachet Grand Cru has a touch more pungency compared to the Bienvenue, but perhaps not quite the same alluring charm, at least at this primordial stage. The palate is where it’s at: supremely well balanced, exuding a sense of coiled-up energy countered by a dense, persistent finish. A bit of a beast, but time will tame it." -Neal Martin

Robert Parker

"The 2018 Bâtard-Montrachet Grand Cru is powerful and muscular, opening in the glass with notions of orange oil, peach, white flowers, beeswax and warm bread. On the palate, it's full-bodied, deep and introverted, with a broad-shouldered, textural profile, serious reserves of concentration and lively balancing acids, concluding with a saline finish." -William Kelley

"We are making wines to age,' says Pierre Vincent, perhaps conscious of some of the issues with premature oxidation in the recent past at the domaine. This is right at the other end of the spectrum: a sculpted, chiselled, tightly wound Bâtard-Montrachet, with perfumed 25% new wood and a very racy, mouthwatering finish. Continues the stylistic shift of the last two vintages. Drinking Window 2023 - 2032." -Tim Atkin
