Old vines like that on the village's two soils, deep compact clay at the Santenay end and finer limestone-flecked ground toward Puligny, give a red with far more mid-palate than the appellation suggests. Thibault Morey destems the fruit completely and ages it ten months in 228-litre barrels, 30% new and the rest second-fill, so the oak stays out of the way. 2024 was hard on Pinot Noir in the Cote de Beaune, with a cold, wet flowering costing a good share of the crop, and the wines that came through are lighter-framed, red-fruited and fresh rather than dense. Serve it with a slight chill and drink it over the next four or five years.\u003c\/p\u003e","brand":"Martine's (T.
