The parcel is Les Nouvelles, a south-facing slope above the village of Mesnay just outside Arbois. The vines sit around 350 meters up on grey marl from the Lias epoch, covered in limestone scree. Cédric Mottet bought the plot from Stéphane Tissot in 2017 and named his new domaine after his love of jazz. He's an Arbois native whose father was a police officer, so he didn't grow up in a winemaking family. The 2022 juice settled cold for one night, then was racked into 300-liter French oak barrels that were five vintages old. It was never stirred, then rested in those same barrels for 36 months before going into bottle unfined and unfiltered.
