The name Roulot is now a synonym for the very best wine that the village of Meursault can offer. It is rather remarkable when you consider that just 2 generations back the Roulot's were known as producers of Burgundian brandy and eau de vie. But Guy Roulot began leveraging the family's distilling success to purchase small plots of vines in Meursault and by the 1970's was known as a pioneer for producing top quality chardonnay from distinct parcels or ""lieu-dits"". When Guy passed away unexpectedly in the early '80's his son Jean-Marc was pursuing acting in Paris. In 1989 he returned to take on the reigns of the small Domaine and in the following decades built on his fathers success so well that the wines are now extremely hard to acquire and to afford for most of us.

Professional Reviews

Robert Parker

RP 90+
"The 2018 Meursault Vireuils is showing nicely in bottle, unwinding in the glass with hints of crisp Anjou pear, citrus oil, nutmeg and fresh bread. Medium to full-bodied, elegantly textural and incisive, with a pretty core of fruit underpinned by a racy spine of acidity, it concludes with a chalky, penetrating finish. This is a fine success that I suspect will show even better with a few years in bottle, even if it's deceptively charming right now." -William Kelley

"Picked 5 September. Mid slope thus cooler than the sites that supply the straight Meursault. The last parcels to be harvested. 8–10% new oak. Tank sample. Smoky, mealy nose from poor chalky soil. A touch of struck match but under that there’s ripe, cedary citrus. Powerful, mouth-watering, cedary. Power and freshness. Quite a grip to the texture – in a good way."
