Enzo Boglietti, Barolo Case Nere, 2001

From a small Cru in La Morra directly adjacent to Cerequio and with the same perfect southeast exposure. Although La Morra is known for lighter wines, Case Nere is one of the exceptions, and there is no shortage of power here, permitting this wine to survive and improve easily over the last two decades. A recently tasted bottle was perfect.

Antonio Galloni

"Boglietti's 2001 Barolo Case Nere is spiced on the nose, revealing notes of new oak, menthol and chocolate, along with flavors of super-ripe black cherry fruit and cocoa, with good concentration and length on the palate and terrific overall balance. It comes across as the most complete of these offerings." -Antonio Galloni
