The parcel is small — just under a hectare, south-facing, on fossil-bearing rock and clay at the northern end of the village right before the combe opens up. That sun exposure is the whole story: it gives a Gevrey of real black-fruited concentration rather than the leaner, more austere style the northern end can produce. Faiveley only got their hands on it in 2013, as part of a larger Gevrey purchase, which makes this 2015 one of the early bottlings from a site their technical director Jerome Flous makes no secret of loving. Everything is hand-harvested and hand-sorted, moved into wooden vats by gravity, and raised in French oak.
