The charismatic Chris Blandy will be in town May 9 and has generously offered to bring some beautiful Madeiras to the mezzanine for an intimate seminar. The flight will explore Madeira primarily through the lens of Bual, one of my favorite grapes, and Chris will discuss some of his favorite vintages as we taste through a library flight. 

Chris Blandy has been immersed in his seven-generation family business since 2007, and during the family’s bicentennial year in 2011, when they took back the majority shareholding of the Madeira Wine Company, Chris took the role of CEO.

“It was quite daunting taking over the year in which the Blandy’s Madeira not only celebrated its bicentennial anniversary, but also the first time since 1989 that my family had control of the company ," he says. "200 years of history certainly increases the weight of responsibility, but I have found that Madeira wine as a whole is experiencing an exciting growth and with the right team in place, I hope to help reinvent the Madeira market and to set the base for future generations to come.”
