This 2007 Barolo has had nearly two decades of it. Roddolo is a true artisan grower: six hectares on the Bricco Appiani hill just outside Monforte d'Alba, with vines from 15 to 70 years old on calcareous clay and no chemical treatments in forty years. In the cellar he uses only indigenous yeasts, and nothing is fined or filtered. The whole estate makes about 20,000 bottles a year, so this isn't a trophy Barolo with a marketing budget behind it. It's traditional Nebbiolo from a farmer.
