The soil is sandy and stony up top and gets richer lower down, and a nearby valley brings more rain than the estate's Grand Cru Frankstein sees. Florian and Mathilde Beck-Hartweg leave a third of the harvest on its skins for six months in amphora, then blend it back with the rest. The vineyards are certified organic, and the wine is bottled unfiltered with no added sulfites.
